Well my dear chums I have dusted off my top hat, and have finished polishing my tails, figuratively speaking for those actually old enough to remember Fred Astaire. The reality is that I will be greatly looking forward to a great night at the rather plush Lancaster Gate hotel in the heart of Kensington for a rather special awards night.
I have been delighted to attend the awards ceremony on a number of occasions, indeed the last time that I went uTrack ended up winning the technology award, against all the odds. Given the magnitude of the short listed entries we did not think that we actually stood any chance of winning. In fact Eamonn and Conor did not bother attending as none of us thought that we would win. But, we did, and yours truly took to the stage to pick up the rather splendid gong. This award was however different as it was not restricted to the bus and coach industry. It covered all sectors, rail, logistics and haulage, freight, maritime, aviation. And given the quality of the short listed entries which included TFL, Abellio, and Bombadier, uTrack beat the lot and won the award.
The event itself is a grandiose affair with an excellent three course meal then the awards themselves. And this year is a special year as it is the centenary of CILT, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal the patron of CILT will be the guest of Honour, she is an excellent Patron over the decades and is always good company and very well informed. So, to be invited as a guest of honour of Kevin Richardson the excellent CEO of CILT is indeed a very special thing for me. Especially given that this time last year I was quite literally knocking on deaths door. So, I will relish the occasion and truly appreciate the event and its symbolism
