So, I have dusted off my suit, polished my shoes and been exercising my fingers so that I can open the gold coloured envelope that will tonight reveal the winner of the UK’s top Coach driver. As selected by an expert panel after what was, I can tell you a very hard fought choice, with a excellent short list making finding a winner a really tough job. I really like the UK Coach awards that will this year celebrate their tenth anniversary.
This year we have seen the biggest number of entries that we have ever received across all categories, a testimony to the growing awareness and prestige that actually winning one of these awards means. How do I know because we at uTrack have won two awards back in 2014 where along with top Coach Operator The Kings Ferry, we at uTrack were the joint winners of the Bus and Coach sponsored Technology and Innovation award for the dynamic Real Time Information system. Indeed The Kings Ferry actually walked away with the crown as they were the winners of the Gold award in the Top large Operator section, recognised as the top award in the whole event.
However at the same awards we at utrack got the silver award in the Making Coaches A Better Choice Award, truly a nice surprise as we had not actually entered that category, but the judges took the view that it warranted recognition and we were delighted to win it. And this is one of the key points that feeling which is quite unique when you hear your Companies name read out on that stage, it is not just a euphoric moment, it is actually a lot more than that. It is a validation that all that work, effort, worry, travelling, stress, was worth it. It is more than just that recognition from your peers it is the satisfaction that you get when you have achieved something.
Tonight’s event is also something of a new direction fro the awards as it is being held in Blackpool at the Viva Vegas concert arena, where the glitz of Vegas style cabaret can be enjoyed by an audience of Coach men and women who have proved in the past that they can certainly enjoy themselves. So the scene is set for an excellent night I will of course give a full match report, viva Las Vegas
