I am delighted to report that I will be attending the excellent Eurotransport conference being held in Manchester. I have been fortunate enough to attend two such conferences and the calibre of presentations and the seniority of those in attendance is impressive.it is not easy organising such events as i have found out myself in the past.
Therefore while it is time spent away from the day job, it does have benefits both in learning and in meeting new people as well as renewing old friendships over a pint or two. Indeed directLy following the last event that I attended in Manchester I was able to to instigate a specific initiative which lead to attracting more members of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
The variety and content of the days presentations has something for everyone from lowering emissions to RTPI and powering the bus of the future. There are also a number of workshops being held where active participation of the delegates is positively encouraged. Topics for discussion include How can the Bus adapt to a new world of Transport, and more topical given recent events asks the question How can we prevent mass transit systems from being attacked.
The event will also for the first time include two technical visits including the Manchester Guided Bus way which I have seen and it is I have to say a very impressive system. In addition it offers delegates the chance to visit the Wythenshaw interchange. So, if you would like to attend contact the team at European Bus FOrem, or check out the website www.eurotransport.com So I will hopefully see you there
